rEIMERS tHE musician
Christian Reimers studied cello with Johann Reinecke, father of the composer/ conductor Carl Reinecke in his hometown of Altona, then part of Denmark. He also studied piano at that time.

When he moved to Leipzig, he played with the Gewandhaus orchestra and then he in Dusseldorf he played chamber music with the likes of Clara Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Wilhelm Joseph von Wasielewski, Julius Tausch and the violin virtuoso, Joseph Joachim. In Bonn, he played in the orchestra of the Beethovenverein.

He moved to England mid 1850s and became a member of the Halle Orchestra for twenty years. After six months in Ireland playing chamber music, he moved to Australia where he played with the Adelaide String Quartet Club until relocating to Melbourne where he played with the the Zerbini Quartet. Especially in Australia, he became well known giving many cameo appearances playing solo cello pieces in other people's concerts. He also played in the Centennial International Exhibition Orchestra of 1888.
